Family Dentistry & Children

Family Dentistry

You can never start dental care too early. Give your children the best start in their dental journey with regular check-ups for the whole family. Help children understand the importance of good dental hygiene and get them comfortable with preventative dental care from an early age to model good oral health.

Child friendly dentist

  • Family-friendly appointments: Adult patients are always welcome to bring their young children to appointments, and children can have their own checkups too.
  • Dental health for life: By learning good oral health and hygiene practices early, children are set up to have strong and healthy teeth and gums.
  • Positive interactions: When children are familiar with their dentist and the process of dental examinations, they can start to build positive associations with dentistry.
  • Preventative treatments: As with adults, regular dental examinations for children can identify potential issues early and resolve them before they cause problems.

When should I bring my child to the dentist?

We recommend taking your child for dental check-ups when they begin to get their first milk teeth. Though they likely don’t require dental work at this age, building familiarity with the dentist can help to avoid anxiety around dentistry later.

How often should children visit the dentist?

As with adults, we recommend regular dental examinations every six months for children.

How long does a children’s dental appointment take?

A typical children’s dental examination takes around ten minutes. At Baildon Dental, we leave enough time in appointments to reassure your child, answer any questions you or they may have, and discuss the need for any follow-up treatment they may need.

Are children’s dental appointments covered by insurance?

Coverage varies depending on your insurance provider and policy. Verify the extent of coverage with your insurance company. Our friendly reception team can assist you in navigating insurance-related questions. Children of current Baildon Dental patients may be eligible for NHS treatment.
